Green Card-Diversity Visa

The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV Program) is a lottery-based immigration option to get permanent resident status in the United States.

Every year, applicants submit an online application and the US government selects a small number of applications through a randomized computer drawing. Around 50.000 visas per year are issued for the diversity visa lottery winners. People who get their immigrant visas become permanent residents of the United States.

  • Diversity visa is a lottery based immigration program and people who are selected in this lottery are allowed to live in the United States permanently. It means the government of the United States selects people not based on their education, skills but randomly.

People fill out a small application form and together with their photos the forms are submitted to the government. And the government randomly selects a small number of people with a computer program. Those who are selected then get their visas from the US embassies and immigrate to the United States.

    • If you are not married and you were born in the following countries you cannot apply

    • If you are married and if your spouse was born in a country outside the following list, you are eligible to apply (even if you were born in the following countries)

Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, Venezuela, and Vietnam

  • There is no age requirement as long as an applicant has completed high school OR meets work experience requirements. This is the only requirement in the green card lottery. English is also not a requirement for this program.

  • Because more than 50,000 natives of these countries immigrated to the United States in the previous five years via other visa categories such as Family-sponsored and Employment-based visas.

  • It all depends in which country you were born. Chances to be selected for some countries is less than 1 percent and for some between 1-2 percent. (it means the number of people applying from your country and the number of people that are selected)

  • Each applicant can only submit one application per year. No multiple entries are permissible. If you apply through our company it is enough to apply once. We will submit your application to the US government every year until you win. We will ask you to submit new photos every year and update your information (marriage, divorce, new kid etc)

  • Yes. Applying to the green card lottery does not reduce or increase your chances if you apply for other US visas.

  • Yes! Applying to the diversity visa lottery is free of charge and it is also free of charge at our company.

You can also pay small fees to upgrade your application at PassBoard and take advantage of our services such as full consultation after you win, covering all of your costs after you win, get a free flight ticket and settlement services in the United States.

Otherwise, if you are selected in the lottery there will be fees and you are responsible for all government/embassy fees and all of your costs to move to the United States and settle.

  • No! The US government does not provide any help. If you win you are responsible for all the costs and you must arrive and settle in the United States yourself.

But our company can cover all of your costs. We provide full services in all stages of this program, starting from applications till finding your first job in the United States. Please make sure you read and understand our services and and fees and choose the best package that meets your needs.

  • If you are married you must indicate it in your application and provide all of the information of your spouse and children and submit their photos.

If you are married but if you hide this information and apply as single then you will not be able to get your visa. Please make sure you provide all the information of each family member.

If you have kids from your previous marriages or even if you are not officially married, you must submit information and photos of your kids if they are 21 years old or younger. You do not need to submit the information of your children if they are married or older than 21 years.

  • Applications are submitted to the US government every year in October and the results are announced in May of the next year. People who are selected in May go to the US embassies starting from October of the same year till September 30 of the next year. The appointment dates in embassies are being assigned to the selectees by the US government automatically.

You usually know your appointment date in the embassy around 2 months before. Once you get your visa in the embassy you usually have around 6 months to make your first entry to the United States.

  • If you are the main applicant you need to have a valid passport in order to apply for the diversity visa program. If you are married and if you are the main applicant only you need to have a valid passport. You do not need a passport number for other family members in your application, though you need to provide their information and photos.

If your spouse submits an application then he/she becomes the main applicant. In this case only he/she will need a passport number.

Children are not required to have passport numbers when submitting the application. But they will need passports after you win in order to get visas.

  • Yes, you apply from any location

  • We accept applications anytime of the year and we submit them to the US government in October on your behalf. If you are not selected we will submit your application to the US government next October. But you will need to update your photo and information in your account. Otherwise, we will not submit your application. You must renew your photo every year. Also, your information such as marriage, divorce, new kid etc must be updated every year before we submit your application to the US government.
